Alinna’s (real name) mother left their home when she was only nine years old. She and her four siblings grew up without a mother. Her father, who worked as a welder, had his leg amputated because of diabetes. After that, he could not work anymore. Even though life was very hard, Alinna was thankful to God because her father was still loving to them despite everything.

In October 2024, Alinna got in trouble with the law and was charged with anti-fencing. Her boyfriend gave her a gold bracelet, and she did not know it was stolen. Because she had no job and badly needed money, she pawned the bracelet. Later, when her boyfriend got caught, she also got involved since she was the one who pawned the stolen bracelet.

She was first detained in a precinct in Fairview for three months. After that, she was transferred to Malabon City Jail. Alinna felt like there was no hope for her because her family was very poor, her father was disabled, and they had no connections. But one day, the city jail officers endorsed her to the Community Bail Bond Program of Preso Inc. She was interviewed, and after just three days, she was bailed out and freed under provisional dismissal in October 2024.

Alinna said she was treated well by the other PDLs when they found out she was pregnant. She also made friends with them and kept good behavior while in jail. Because of this, she was accepted into Preso Inc.’s program. Alinna is very thankful to Preso Inc. and said she could not believe that a good organization like that exists.

Now at 23, Alinna has a five-month-old baby. She wants to start a small business when her child is a little older. Her siblings are helping her with support, and she is determined to make a better life for her family. Alinna regrets being in a relationship with her ex-boyfriend, who her father did not like. She realized her father was right when he said the boyfriend was no good.

Alinna promised to be a good mother and to give her child the care she never experienced from her own mother. She is focused on doing better this time and making a better future for her and her child.
