A Vow to Embrace Humility (Stories of Hope, Resiliency and Restoration - English)

After his time in jail, Ricardo (not his real name), a 43-year-old jeepney driver, emerged as a renewed man. He admits that his bad temperament had brought him nothing but trouble, ultimately landing him in jail.

During a heated argument with a bus conductor, he lost control and inflicted severe pain on the conductor, resulting in him being charged with attempted murder in June 2022.

He recounted that life in jail was nothing but difficult and inhumanely crowded, emphasizing the importance of maintaining humility in any given situation to avoid undergoing such a grim experience. In jail, Ricardo was a dutiful follower and actively participated in all jail activities to become productive. Every day, he looked forward to prayer time. Vouched for by Taguig City jail guards, PRESO Inc. helped Ricardo gain temporary freedom while his case was being heard. PRESO Inc. facilitated Ricardo's temporary release by providing the PHP60,000.00 bail amount, acknowledging his good behavior and merits. In June 2023, Ricardo was granted temporary freedom. Subsequently, the court dismissed his attempted murder case on October 7, 2023, because the complainant had failed to appear for several hearings. The complainant was apparently involved in another incident.

Ricardo profusely thanked PRESO Inc. for facilitating his case and providing the monetary requirement for his freedom. With his supportive family and child, he weathered the storm. He persists in his diligent work as a jeepney driver, committed to living a life of humility. He made a solemn vow never to succumb to his temper and act impulsively again.
