Last September 21-23, 2022, PRESO, Inc. was invited by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) as one of their featured presenters for a 3-day workshop on “Health in Custodial Settings”. This was attended by representatives from the BJMP National and Regional offices as well as jail units. Also present were representatives from other members in the correctional pillar as well as several civil organizations.
Our presentation focused on the Community Bail Bond Program and on CBB referrals and participants who had mental health disorders and how the criminal justice system fails to address their special needs and ensure their rights as detainees. The three day workshop allowed us the opportunity to engage with a greater number of civic society groups as well as the chance to work with UNODC in the future.
