In the past three years, we had been working to introduce classification and risk assessments for Persons Deprived of Liberty in the Manila City Jail Male Dorm. I worked hard with Prof Hanna Nario-Lopez of UP Diliman Sociology Deparment in developing a Filipino based risk assessment tool. Former Warden Randel Latoza, Deputy Warden Jayrex Bustinera and their dedicated staff pilot tested the program after a series of trainings we conducted for them. The new warden Elena Rocamora continued the program. The risk assessment tool is now being used to guide the housing placements of the PDLs and the programs they will undertake. Excited to take the next steps!
