It was the late Cardinal Sin who initiated the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines declaration of a Prison Awareness Sunday. It became a day of worship and reiteration of the importance of serving persons deprived of liberty. Among the highlights of the day's festivities was the Gawad Paglilingkod ceremony where long-time volunteers were given recognition for their service to the correctional community. This year's recipients included three PRESO, Inc. officers.
