PRESO Reaches Out to Jails Amidst Pandemic

Updated: Sep 12, 2020

Since the start of the series of lockdowns in Metro Manila, PRESO Inc has always been aware that one sector that will be most affected is definitely the vulnerable persons deprived of liberty in jails and prisons. During all these months, volunteer activities, family visits including cooked food-supply from friends and families were totally restricted. PRESO in no time mobilized its resources collecting cash and in-kind donations estimated at almost P75k worth. Supplies and items that could protect them from the virus and somehow boost the immunity of our PDLs especially the visitorless were given priority.

Benefiting almost 2200 PDLs in 10 confinement facilities within NCR, PRESO provided boxes of vitamins, bottles of alcohol, several packs of face masks, hygiene products e.g. bath soaps and shampoo, some packs of coffee, gallons of mayonnaise and loaves of tasty bread. One large-sized isolation tent and 4 cushion beds were also donated specifically to Manila City Jail (male).

Our warmest appreciation goes to the Board members and their personal friends, Knights of Columbus (National), Mr. RJ Limpo and the JCI Manila. PRESO believes that no one should be left out, even if this sector is one of the most rejected in society.
