Release through a Motion for Further Reduction of Bail

Updated: May 4, 2023

In a first our CBB Program, and, it turns out, a first also for the Pasig City Courts, we were able to post bail for one Child in Conflict with the Law (CICL) after his judge approved a Motion for Further Reduction of Bail.

Said CICL was referred to us by the Pasig City Bahay Pag-Asa last October 2020. After finding his case to be meritorious, we coordinated with his family and barangay to ensure that, should we be able to post his bail, he would be properly guided and attended to as he was suffering from glaucoma. His bail amounted to Php 360,000.00, and we spoke to his Public Attorney about filing a Motion to Reduce Bail. This was granted last January reducing the amount the Php 180,000.00.

This amount was still above our standard CBB bail ceiling and we posited the idea of filing another motion, this time a Motion for Further Reduce Bail. His Public Attorney, who from the onset had been very supportive of our resolve to help the young CICL, was willing to file the motion stating that this would be the first time in Pasig City that such a motion would be filed.

Thankfully, the judge approved the motion and the CICL's bail was further reduced to Php 90,000.00. Our young CICL was finally released last August 5 after almost three years in the Pasig City Bahay Pag-Asa facility. We look forward to supporting our new CBB Participant in his new journey of reintegration to his community.
