Webinar Series Module 4
The Big 8 Factors
Criminological theories suggest that there are 8 major factors that predict reoffending. These include: criminal history, procriminal companions, procriminal attitudes and cognitions, anti-social personality patterns, education/employment, Family/marital conditions, Substance abuse and Mental health status.
This was covered in our Module 4: The Big 8: Focus and Prioritization.
The participants are jail officers and volunteers. We then discussed how the concept of the Big 8 affects the programs they offer in the jail and upon release.
Participants say this concept is "revolutionary". It has direct implications on the nature of their work.
